I had checked with staff of Etihad at Bahrain on 3rd April regarding baggage allowance on Bahrain-Bangalore sector for flight on 6th April/. I was told it is 40kgs as part of promotion.. I confirmed my booking with them|. When I checked-in at Etihad counter on 6th, I was told allowance was only 23kgs and I will have to pay for excess baggage;. I was threatened by staff at the counter if I will not pay, they will not issue boarding pass and will not be allowed to travel:. Since, I had to travel; I paid the excess baggage'. On completing formalities, I immediately contacted Etihad and informed them of the entire process from enquiring to booking to boarding". They conveyed to me that they will investigate and update me. It took them 3months and innumerable reminders from my side to investigate and respond. And the crux of response was that they do not have means to investigate my complain and although it was unfortunate that I got that treatment but that treatment was justified as per their rule book.
